WILLIAM
RODRIGUEZ
CHAIRMAN OF THE EMERITUS EXECUTIVE BOARD
Dear Members of the
National Supermarket Association,
Since its inception, women have played an integral role in the growth and success of the NSA. It’s important to remember our roots in the 1970s, where our mothers, wives, and sisters worked tirelessly alongside us, often seven days a week, to build the foundation of the supermarket industry.
Under our leadership in 2020, we held numerous logistics and brainstorming sessions to organize an event that would celebrate the hardworking women who have gone unrecognized in the industry for far too long. Our inaugural Women’s Forum in 2022, themed “Inspire, Connect, Empower,” was a testament to our commitment to recognizing and supporting the achievements of women in our field.
Today, we are witnessing a significant rise in the number of women climbing the ranks within the NSA and the broader industry. This trend is not only encouraging but also reflective of the
fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and unwavering dedication that women bring to the traditionally male-dominated world of supermarkets.
The success of women in our industry is no coincidence. Having long been overlooked, they approach challenges with a unique perspective, turning complex concepts into reality with passion and motivation. Women are driving positive change in numerous ways, and we believe this is just the beginning of what they will accomplish.
The NSA is immensely proud to recognize the trailblazing women who have paved the way for others and to celebrate those who continue to forge new paths forward.
Warm regards,
William Rodriguez
Chairman of the Emeritus Executive Board.
