MARIA D. MEJIA M.D. Mental Health Specialist at Godwin Medical I am a dedicated and experienced medical doctor with a strong background in both pulmonary medicine and psychiatry. I graduated Cum Laude from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and later completed a residency program in Pulmonology in Mexico City. After practicing as a pulmonologist in Santo Domingo for several years, I decided to emigrate to New York to further expand my medical knowledge and expertise. In the United States, I gained valuable experience working in Quality Management and Research, with the ultimate goal of continuing my career as a physician. I successfully completed my residency in Psychiatry at BronxCare Health System, which allowed me to transition into a deeply rewarding field that focuses on mental health and patient well-being. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving the community in various public healthcare settings, including Fordham Tremont Community Mental Health and Lincoln Hospital. Additionally, I provided psychiatric care at the Family Justice Center in the Bronx, working with individuals affected by domestic violence. I am now honored to continue my commitment to community mental health at Godwin Medical, alongside Dr. Luisa Perez. In this role, I bring my expertise as a mental health specialist, primarily treating patients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and domestic violence-related issues. My passion lies in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while advocating for mental health awareness and sup- port within under-served communities.
