 GENERATIONAL LEADER HONOREE
JENNY JORGE
Jenny Jorge’s journey in the supermarket industry began with her family’s venture back in 1978. Since the age of 16, she’s been actively involved in the operations of Gala Foods Supermarkets and Gala Fresh Farms. Notably, she led the significant renovation of the Freeport stores in 2010, revitalizing the area’s commercial hub with a modernized super- market experience and continues to innovate every day to better serve her community.
Beyond her business commitments, Jenny is deeply committed to community engagement. From her leadership roles in the Freeport Chamber of Commerce to her support for local organizations like the Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Centre, she demonstrates a steadfast dedication to giving back. Her involvement with the National Supermarkets Association underscores her passion for mentoring and supporting the next generation, and ensuring that independent supermarkets are fairly represented in the grocery industry and beyond.
Despite her demanding schedule, Jenny pursued her education diligently, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Business as well as a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Fordham University while balancing her responsibilities in the family business. She acknowledges the influence of her upbringing and the unwavering support of her husband, Alex, in keeping her grounded. With two sons, Alexander and Andrew, Jenny finds fulfillment in both her professional and personal life. Her journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, integrity, and a genuine commitment to serving others.
